Summary of Minutes Meeting held

There were no matters arising from the minutes
of the last meeting.
1.
Christmas Party. – CS.
Was
great success, thanks to everyone who gave up their time.
2.
Play Area. – EB
Tenders
for play area have been returned, Cost of completing project in excess of
£100K, current budget only has £70K.
CB to
write to MPC asking for contribution towards football area fenceing as this had
been requested by Forest Park residents.
EB to
fund raise form other funders, notably Veolia Environmental Trust and Orbit
Housing who own Maple Close and Field End.
Planning
permission has been granted on 21 Jan.
3.
Notice Board – CB
WDC
had confirmed that planning permission would be required for the notice board.
Also possible issue with land ownership?
No
progress since last meeting.
CB to
follow this up.
4.
Salt bins for estate.
It
had been reported that some residents of the estate were unhappy that the
residents association had not spent the money raised for the play area on
buying salt / grit and clearing the road of snow, and that the association had
not done enough to help residents during the snow.
CB
explained that the money raised had been done so specifically for the play area
and thus could not be spent on other issues.
CB
also added that he had written and delivered a flyer to every house asking for residents
to keep an eye on elderly and vulnerable residents, and to let us know if
anyone needed help, he had not received a single call. He asked if any one has
any other suggestions on what could have been done.
There
is a potential issue with liability on owners of salt bins, should be duty of
Parish Council to maintain.
Ring
call centre in Ringmer if concerned about lack of gritting.
5.
Pot Holes.
AS
pointed out that pot holes and other repairs to the road could only be done if
reported through the East Sussex Highways call centre. He could not take it
upon himself to mend pot holes without authorisation from ESCC.
6.
WRAG update.
The
concern over lack of gritting in estates had been a district wide problem, with
some areas been snow bound for nearly two weeks.
WRAG had
written a letter to ESCC expressing concern over the lack of grit bins and now
the amount of pot holes in and around Wealden estates.
7.
Grounds Maintenance Monitoring.
Craig
volunteered to monitor the standard for the ground maintenance for the bottom
half of Parklands, including the play area and two grassed areas near his
house.
Charlotte
will monitor the top half, including the entrance way and garage areas.
8.
Litter Picking Morning.
It
was agreed to hold a litter picking morning on Saturday __- of March. EB to
draw up posters to put around the estate.
It
was also agreed to hold as another active play session. EB to contact Active
play and organise.
9.
Skip / Clear up day.
It was agreed to hold a skip / clear up day on Monday 12th
April.
WDC would fund one skip, one would be match funded by NPRA.
Nick Redman to organise cage lorry to collect non skip rubbish – CB to
follow up.
CB to get prices and book two skips from AM skip hire.
10. AOB.
CS said she wanted to work more
closely with the teenagers to try to find out what they want to see on the
estate, and to try to get them to work with the residents association on
projects.
