Current Projects

In June 2008 the Residents Association committee sent out a questionnaire to all residents of Parklands. The two main requirements identified by the questionnaire were a wider range of play equipment in the playground and improvements to the parking at the entrance to Parklands. These two projects are now the main focus of the Residents Association committee.

Play Area

There are three main phases planned for the Parklands play area which include new early years equipment, multi-use goals and returfing the kickaround area and a new figure of eight BMX track. Achieving these is obviously dependent on our fundraising efforts. Full details of the Playgound Project can be seen in the Project Files area on the right.

We would like to provide an enjoyable space for all children in Parklands and are always looking for more ideas or offers of help to improve the playground. If you have an idea or can spare some time please feel free to let us know.

Play Area Achievements

  1. The original construction of the Play Area.
  2. Installation of seating and a picnic table.
  3. Installation of an extra waste bin and signs.

Play Area Update

We have now raised over £20 000.00 from the various sources listed on the Fundraising page. We are in the advanced stages of an application for £50 000.00 from Changing Spaces and as part of that process are appointing a landscape architect and professional project manager who will then take us onto the next level of the project.

Parking

This project is in the very preliminary planning stages but the plan is to try and provide improved parking facilities for the residents of the flats at the entrance to Parklands to try and ease the inconvenient and dangerous congestion that occurs there. Watch this space for more details of consultations with resdents and fundrising programes.
